Job Description

Legal Secretary – Trusts & Estates

Location: West Hartford (on-site, Monday–Friday)

Schedule: 35 hours per week

Status: Full-time, non-exempt (overtime eligible)

PTO: 25 days annually

About the Role

We are looking for a Legal Secretary with strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to join our Trusts & Estates team. In this role, you’ll support one Associate attorney and three Fiduciary Accountants, helping to keep matters moving smoothly for our clients.

What You’ll Do

Administrative & Case Support

  • Manage a high volume of emails and correspondence
  • Maintain calendars and coordinate client meetings
  • Prepare and organize client binders, both digital and paper
  • Draft, edit, and proofread letters, pleadings, and legal documents
  • Schedule and arrange Notary services for signings
  • Serve as a professional and responsive point of contact for clients and referrals
  • Keep client contact records up to date
  • Provide support on special projects
  • Work occasional overtime when needed

Billing & Systems

  • Enter attorney time into Aderant (or Time Expert)
  • Assist with monthly billing and tracking deadlines

Education & Experience

  • College degree preferred
  • Prior Trusts & Estates experience strongly preferred

Skills & Technical Knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with Aderant or Time Expert
  • Bonus: knowledge of Trust and Estate tax returns or TurboCourt filings
