We are seeking a Risk Data Scientist to play a pivotal role in identifying, mitigating, and managing financial and operational risks in a fast-paced fintech environment. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable risk controls, optimize processes, and provide actionable insights that balance platform safety with a seamless user experience. The ideal candidate thrives in analyzing complex datasets, developing robust risk strategies, and communicating findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Accountabilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, transaction patterns, and user behavior to identify potential credit, fraud, and compliance risks.
  • Design, build, and deploy automated risk controls and decisioning systems in partnership with engineering, product, and data teams.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership regarding risk trends, policy enhancements, and long-term risk strategy.
  • Optimize and improve existing risk management processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure risk mitigation aligns with business growth and operational goals.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate risk-related metrics to inform decision-making across the organization.
  • 5+ years of experience in Analytics or Data Science with a focus on risk, financial, or operational analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in SQL, Python, or other analytical software to manipulate and derive insights from large datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex risk issues clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Preferred: prior experience in fintech, startup environments, or financial services risk roles.
  • Competitive salary range: $163,000–$210,000, depending on experience, skills, and location.
